COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE


The Communications Team designs, implements and monitors communications to reach, inform and evangelize Holy Spirit Parishioners and the community. The team meets on the fourth Thursday of the month at 6:00 p.m. in the church office. The team always welcomes new members! If you have writing skills, design skills, photography skills---or have the skills to fold and label the newsletter, we welcome your help! Students and seniors are welcome! One Step Information Submission

Information submitted to communications@holy-spiritchurch.org  will be forwarded to each avenue of communication---bulletin, newsletter, web site, outdoor sign and media.
E-mail the basic facts to communications@holy-spiritchurch.org  the time and place of your event and the purpose of the event/activity/award. Please list a contact person and contact information to be published in article. The contact person may be called and interviewed for further details. Don’t forget to let people know who to contact to become involved!
 In addition to e-mail, you can also submit information to the communications committee by completing the website submission form at Website Submission Form. Just enter your information into the correct fields. It’s that easy!
We love photos! JPG format is preferred. Please identify individuals and have a photo release signed prior to taking photos. The photo release form is available on our web site at Photo Release Form in either Microsoft Word or Adobe pdf format.
If you don’t use a computer, write down the information and submit it to the communications mailbox in the church office. Be sure to include your contact information so that you may be contacted with any questions. (Mail is picked up every Sunday.) Because this is the most time consuming method for the volunteer staff, non-computerized submission is the least preferred. If at all possible, try to find someone to e-mail the information for you or save it for you on a CD, flash drive/jump drive.

Bulletin:
 300 copies are printed weekly and distributed at Saturday and Sunday masses. This is the best vehicle to reach mass-attending members.
The bulletin, in a pdf format, is available on our web site at Bulletins each week; just because your information is in the bulletin, doesn’t mean it is appears on the web site other than in the bulletin section unless you use the “one step submission”.
The bulletin is written and designed by Phyllis Zagotta each week from her home. The weekly deadline is Monday.
For advertising information, please contact Michelle Hurst at home at (219) 661-0413. Advertising offsets the cost of paper, printing etc. A rate sheet is available on our web site at Bulletin Ad Rates .

Newsletter:
 800+ newsletters are mailed to registered members homes.
The publication, featuring articles and photos, is published every other mont.
We’re always in need of volunteers to help fold, label and mail the newsletter. If you can help, please call Leslie Gentry at 545-9336.

Web Site:
Parishioners and the public use the web site to find information about Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
Forms, photos and information about parish activities and ministries are posted on the site by the Web Team.
To volunteer your services or learn more about the web team, please contact Marshall Anderson at webmaster@holy-spiritchurch.org.
You can submit information to be posted on the web site by completing the website submission form at Website Info Form. Just enter your information into the correct fields. It’s that easy!

Media Relations:
Press releases regarding newsworthy items---parish activities, charity events, social events, community involvement, awards etc.---are sent to the media by the communications committee.
Releases are professionally written in a journalistic format.
If you are looking for journalism experience or already have some, please consider joining the committee! Call Michelle Hurst at 661-0413 or e-mail communications@holy-spiritchurch.org.

Outdoor Sign:
Hundreds of cars drive by the church’s outdoor sign every day.
Please call Karen McMahon in the church office at 661-0664 to request that a message regarding your event is posted on the outdoor sign.
